A CHURCH FOR ALL AT THE HEART OF THE COMMUNITY

We are a Christian church. Worship is central to what we do.

We meet for Worship at 10:30 every Sunday morning. On the first Sunday each month we have a traditional Holy Communion Service at 08:30 as well as All-Age Worship at 10:30am.

Our Evening Service is at 18:00 each week. Most weeks this is online only, and we join our friends from the other churches in the Leicester Trinity Circuit for this service.

Online worship: Please let us know if you would like the information to join online either for the 10:30am or 6pm services.

Sunday worship

We meet for Worship at 10:30 every Sunday morning. Most weeks this is a traditional Methodist service led by our own minister, or by one of the other Ministers and Local Preachers from the eighteen Methodist churches which work together across this area. Our own Worship Leaders frequently contribute to the leading of the services.

Services usually place a focus on preaching, as we hear Bible readings and consider what they mean for us today. We sing some contemporary hymns, but we primarily sing traditional hymns, or new words set to traditional tunes. Normally these will come from ‘Singing the Faith’, the Methodist hymn book.

Any children present are welcome to stay in church with their families or carers, or to join with our children in their own group.

The service will usually last between one hour and an hour and fifteen minutes.

The service will include Holy Communion once each month and everyone is welcome to join us at the Lord’s Supper. This generally follows the format in the Methodist Worship Book.

The 10:30am service continues to be streamed online for those who are unable to attend in person or prefer to join us in this way.

On the first Sunday each month arrangements are different. We have a traditional Holy Communion Service at 08:30 as well as All-Age Worship at 10:30. This service is much more informal. It will be child-friendly, it will have some fun and light-hearted songs, but we often also find that it is the service where adults are most challenged by what is said.

Our Evening Service is at 18:00 each week. Most weeks this is online only, and we join our friends from the other churches in the Leicester Trinity Circuit for this service.

Midweek worship

Our midweek service takes place at 11:30 on the first and third Wednesday each month. It is an informal half-hour service typically including a couple of well-known traditional hymns and offers space for prayer. Many of those attending meet in Zeph’s for coffee beforehand or stay for lunch.

Other services

Some of our church Members join the regular worship at Aigburth MHA (Methodist Homes for the Aged) which takes place every Sunday at 16:00. There is also a Communion service twice a month on Thursday at 11:00.

We have occasional services where we gather with Churches Together in Oadby, or with other local Methodist Churches in order to worship together. These will include services in the Week of Prayer for Christian Unity and for important events in the church year, such as Palm Sunday and Good Friday.

Prayer

Prayer is central to our life of worship and service. It has a vital part to play in underpinning all we do and holding the church family together.

There is a 'prayer corner' in the church/ worship area which is available for anyone wishing to spend time quietly in the church, where they will find some helpful resources and suggestions for prayer. If you want somebody to pray with you or pray for something specific, please speak to someone on the Welcome Desk.

Our online Prayer Circle shares prayer requests for those within the church family and beyond. Our personal prayer time is enriched by the Methodist Prayer Handbook, Bible reading notes and online material, plus our Minister's regular letter and Affinity which help to keep us connected to one another and to the world around us.

Our pastoral visitors keep all those they care for in their personal prayers.

Every Saturday at 10:15 we are led in prayer by various church members who take this in turn, and each bring their own skills and gifts to our prayer time.

On the third Thursday at 19:30 we meet for Julian (silent) prayer, where we wait on God in the shared silence. NB: These meeetings are not held on the church premises, please ask for details.

House Groups/Bible Study

Several groups meet for prayer and Bible Study during the month.

They meet in different formats at various times of day, and days of the week. Please ask for details.
